No. Age of consent laws are bullshit. They're tyrannical. They don't protect kids. They violate sexual autonomy and are used to repress youth sexuality. We own our bodies and don't need government's permission to have sex or do other sexual things. It's not legal to commit sexual crimes against people over the legal age of consent. Age of consent laws are unnecessary. They're redundant at best and harmful at worst. We don't need arbitrary, repressive, age-based, blanket laws to punish actual sexual crimes. The laws against rape and sexual assault already do that. The fact that AoC law supporters aren't satisfied with those laws proves it's not about protecting kids from sexual crimes. It's about repressing youth sexuality. Society is at war with youth sexuality. Nobody advocates legalizing sexual crimes against minors. What AoC law critics do is point out that society is full of shit when it comes to sexuality and AoC laws. They point out that AoC laws are tyrannical and unjustified and not the right way to go about punishing sexual crimes. I do support or have no problem with punishing people for manipulating minors into sexual things. That's something where minors could/should get extra legal protection that adults don't get.
