“Army veteran sues federal government after ICE detains him for three days ” Excerpt From “Army veteran sues federal government after ICE detains him

The Guardian reports that US citizen George Retes was held without access to family, an attorney or information about the charges against him.

I wonder if as an Army veteran if he’s entitled to legal representation by an Area Defense Counselor? I have never heard of that, but these are extraordinary circumstances. It seems his civil rights were clearly violated and there was no due process allowed.

Under the VA there may be free legal assistance.
