Why are Republicans defending the killing of Alex Pretti?

One of my old school conservative friends on Facebook (not a Trump supporter) commented the above question. It seems clear to me that Pretti cooperated with ICE and was executed. I can think of a few possible explanations why Republicans would rationalize this instead of just agreeing that ICE made a mistake, but each one feels like it’s only part of the answer. What’s the heart of the matter?

@newjaninev2 Or don’t be compliant. Pretti complied and he got executed, and now Republicans are lying about him, saying he deserved it because he attacked ICE. F*** that. If that’s what happens when you comply it seems to me you’re better off actually attacking or trying to get away.

@HobNoblin Is that what he was doing when he got shot?

@Theyitis No he was fighting the agents, tried pulling a gun on them.

@HobNoblin Nope, he didn’t fight, and he never drew his gun. He had his phone in his hand at one point but never his gun. He allowed the agents to disarm him, they took the gun out of his holster, and then they shot him ten times in the back.
