Now my organization is under a partial lockdown in response to ICE activity in the area
This means the casino and lodge will still be open, but in the same capacity as it was during the 2020 lockdown. All employees are under strict orders not engage with any ICE agents if approached and even stricter orders not to grant them access to areas of the complex that aren't accessible to the public. I work in procurement for my organization and we're still allowed to make deliveries within the complex, so that makes us more likely to be approached by ICE while we're out and about. Being the third manager of the department, I went and rallied everyone this morning to provide instructions on what to do if approached by an ICE agent that wasn't covered in the email sent out this morning. I don't expect any of us to be approached by ICE should they turn up again, but in the event that they are, I made doubly sure everyone knows what to do: to exercise their right to silence and unless they're being detained, to just walk away and avoid interacting with them as much as possible. If they are detained, to stay calm and not resist, but also to not answer questions, not consent to searches and demand to speak with a lawyer. None of us have anything to hide from ICE, but that's not the point. We have rights and we have to look out for our employees and both will be defended should either be challenged during this ongoing business. Just hope it can be over with soon.
