The biggest cause of police officer 🚔 injury and death in the line of duty, is vehicle collisions.

Most of them are caused by officer's taking exemptions from traffic rules over their heads.

When I was in law enforcement unless it was a violent felony, you don't pursue more than ten miles over.

Such as armed robbery assault murder

If on the interstate, they would allow you to go faster, if traffic allowed.But if there was much traffic, you had to call off the pursuit

@dale74 your department/agency had some internal standards and maintained discipline. Not all departments do. Im just stating by national average.

Yes police officers have legal exemptions from traffic laws. But when and where allowed officers let it get to there heads which sets the path for the statistic i just mentioned.
