Our neighbors in New Hampshire

Have eliminated forced inspections for private automobiles backed by state law, if you want to get your car inspected you can if you don’t then the state can’t fine you.
I always thought it was a bit of a scam to force fairly new cars to have inspections every year, it seems more like another revenue stream for the state….

I say enforce inspections. Is it gonna change the environment, no. But there are already so many unreasonable and inconvenient things that cars and our poor infrastructure cause and we don't push back. We just let the government have their money at the cost of our quality of life and our environment. Why stop there? Enforce emissions inspections.

This is coming from a person who usually doesn't appreciate a "f!ck it" attitude.
