He snuffed out another human being like it was nothing..its a slap in the face.

In 2023, This child on the right is Porfirio Brown. At the age of 14 he murdered a 13 year old girl inside his home by shooting her in the face. Then he dragged her body outside and called police and told them that there was a drive by shooting and that she was hit. Of course that lie fell apart. And they charged him with 1st degree murder.

On the left is his father who was arrested for having his firearms accessible to a minor.

There were 3 other children present and they all stated that he'd pulled out atleast 3 guns and were showing them off, one of which they described as an AR-15 type rifle that was camouflage with a full clip, an automatic pistol, and the murder weapon, which the children described as a revolver with a "spinning thing on it."

After going to trial, there was a hung jury and he ended up getting 1 year of probation

Did the father receive any punishment?

But why was the child charged with first degree murder? Obviously I don't know the details, but the usual scenario in such cases that I have heard of before is that the death or injury was caused by careless handling of the weapons rather than actual intent to kill.

Wouldn't a lesser charge have been more likely to have resulted in a conviction?
