Okay, so today I finally googled MS-13, and it turns out they're a homegrown gang.

Or at least they were until the Clinton administration decided to start deporting members.

Apparently, they originally formed to protect Salvadorian immigrants against the Crips and the Bloods. Then, as gangs tend to do, they started to form a more traditional criminal organization, and had a rivalry with the 18th Street gang. There are an estimated 30 to 50,000 members worldwide, with maybe 10,000 members in the United States.

So can somebody explain to me why we are deporting hundreds of thousands of alleged members of this gang that has fifty thousand members at most?

Because it was never about deporting criminals.
