Do you Believe in the Stand your Ground Law?

A stand-your-ground law allows people to use deadly force in self-defense if they reasonably believe it's necessary. These laws are also known as "no duty to retreat" laws.

Do I believe in it? I believe such a law exists in Florida and perhaps some other red or maybe even purple states. Is it a good idea? No. It leads to vigilantism and violence that isn’t necessary, and then there’s the question of how do we objectively decide what someone should reasonably be afraid of. A lot of white folks would be scared of a black man or boy in a hoodie running at night. Does that mean that any black male that puts on a hoodie and goes jogging after twilight should be fair game for shooting?
