That was really not your fault. You could only assume that the card reader functioned properly. Given that mistake, I would keep an eye on your statement to see if the charge went through and tell your CC company you believe your account may be in jeopardy because you believe an illegal RFID reader may have been used to hack your account. They will issue you a new card and flag your account for your review.
Or , you just got conned, and someone fooled you into giving your CC # (hopefully you did not)

@TexChik nope I'd never give my card on the phone unless I was calling the credit card company itself with the number on the card.
