Got a call from the cops, the pay at pump yesterday that totally looked like it went through, in fact did not.

Has that ever happened to you?

... sounds super sus. Those are usually setup to not let out a drop till a transaction hold is established. Did you get the phone number? Id call the police department and verify.

@dirge if you gave a cc number to someone on the phone, I'd say call your bank now and issue a fraud alert

@dirge oh not that dumb to give my card on the phone, going in to the gas station later to talk to the manager. The cop was legit.

The station's pay at pump is just stupid, you have to swipe the card before pumping, but because the attendant approved the gas on, it was in 'pay inside' mode apparently.

I'm not sure why it looked like it went through though, but the screen totally changed back from 'you owe x' to 'begin pumping bla bla bla' like it started over.

It's just an inconvenient trip back into town this afternoon before I head back home.

@Starcrossed fair enough. I know someone who got scammed with a hotel breakfast charged to the room.
