Do countries that implement the death penalty only do it to their own citizens?

Why did I ask this question?
We don't have the death penalty in our country and I want to know if I can get this sentence if I go to a country where this penalty is applied and commit a crime. Excuse my curiosity and sorry if I said something wrong, English is not my native language

No but there's major political consequences if you execute someone else's citizen. Like if someone is getting the death penalty their country normally intervenes.
