Do countries that implement the death penalty only do it to their own citizens?

Why did I ask this question?
We don't have the death penalty in our country and I want to know if I can get this sentence if I go to a country where this penalty is applied and commit a crime. Excuse my curiosity and sorry if I said something wrong, English is not my native language

Ignorance is no excuse in law

@senghenydd what do you mean?

@Neptun Essentially, it means that if someone breaks the law, he or she is still liable even if they had no knowledge of the law being broken. Thomas Jefferson said, “Ignorance of the law is no excuse in any country. If it were, the laws would lose their effect, because it can always be pretended.” 😂

And that’s stupid because if you don’t know that something is unlawful, how can you be law abiding in that instance? There are some antiquated laws still on the books, like don’t leave a pie to cool on your windowsill. No one will be arrested for that “crime” now. I doubt anyone leaves pies on their windowsills anymore, but if some corrupt Leo (or agency) wanted to get you, they can use any law you don’t know about, and there are many. @senghenydd

@Carissimi Yes I see the point you are making at end of the day if you or anyone else break the law in a foreign country it's not me you have to convince it's the foreign country.
