Do countries that implement the death penalty only do it to their own citizens?

Why did I ask this question?
We don't have the death penalty in our country and I want to know if I can get this sentence if I go to a country where this penalty is applied and commit a crime. Excuse my curiosity and sorry if I said something wrong, English is not my native language

Unfortunately they also execute foreigners.

@Neptun The state should not have the right to take someones life, I don't think anyone should have that right outside of self defense and military scenarious.
How can you defend such an inhumane practice?
