However, the Venezuelans applied for asylum thus they are not assumed to be criminals but even if they are illegal, DeSantis and his cohorts have no jurisdiction over them. @bgjb58 You couldn't be more wrong. These people are legally applying for asylum in the US. They did not commit a crime coming here. When they cross the border, they are legally here and are given a court date for a hearing on their asylum status. They are not illegal and have as much right to be here as Trump Cult members or any other American. While they are here waiting for their hearing, they have the same rights as any American, and are subject to the same laws.
