Can someone get arrested if they are harassing me from another state?

Is it possible to get them arrested? They use different numbers.
Why not change your phone number? You first have to prove a person is harassing you
@Angeliclove you can file a report and have it documented but if you can't prove the person is harassing you it is pointless. A person can't be prosecuted based on words without physical evidence

@Souls the text are from different numbers so it’s hard to proof exactly who it is sadly. But he person calls and never says nothing just music playing and in the background I think it’s my boyfriends ex. But she is in another state:
@Angeliclove I suggest changing your cell phone number and only giving it to people you trust. It's a shame people can't act like an adult

I knew you’d eventually give up your new phone number 🙄

In 1996 Congress passed an anti-stalking law as part of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Under this law it is a federal felony to cross state lines to stalk or harass an individual if the conduct causes fear of serious bodily injury or death to the stalking victim or to the victim's immediate family members.
I doubt it but you could always call and see what they can do to help.

@SweetNSassy it’s pointless is they are out of state right?
@Angeliclove I’m not really sure what they can do, but they probably aren’t going to travel out of state to arrest someone for a misdemeanor.

@SweetNSassy the person calls from different numbers all day and doesn’t say anything.

The first anti-stalking law was passed in 1990 in California. Since then, all 50 states have enacted anti-stalking laws. The US Congress enacted the first Federal stalking law in 1996.

If the judge in your state refuses to issue an order, you can file for an order in the courthouse in the state where the abuser lives.
