My thoughts on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We need boundaries and rules.

Imagine we applied diversity and inclusion to the English language.

Imagine if we said "any order of letters can mean anything you want it to mean...in fact anything can be a letter".

You wouldn't have a language.

And not only that, we'd be weakened as we wouldn't be able to communicate with one another.

And language is a form of homogeneity. An homogeneity of sounds, letter, grammar etc.

I don't think you know what DEI means. Handicapped parking spaces are DEI.

@CountScrofula Thanks for the contribution, buddy!

@Therealsteve Djghme proskdna tieowjrj! (I practice DEI)

@CountScrofula I see. What I don't see is how I wouldn't know what a handicapped parking space is, when I'm a certified and experienced (to the highest of levels) special needs educator.

@CountScrofula so...is he like MarkPaul in outright fascist flavour?
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@CountScrofula because perhaps unlike you, I like to be critical of all ideas, even my own.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Therealsteve not really.

You're doubling down on your nonsense.
Not to mention you're trying to find information that justifies your opinion.
Actual science is done by looking at empirical data and then drawing your conclusion based on that.

You went the other way around.
This is sophomoric sophistry what you're doing, in the proper Greek meaning.

@basilfawlty89 what has my hair got to do with anything?
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Therealsteve nothing, but it's a circus hairdo.

Now, argue the rest of my points.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@basilfawlty89 what does my hair have to do with what I said?
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Therealsteve again, nothing. You just look like emo batman with it. At a thrift shop.

Now address the other points.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@basilfawlty89 what has my hair got to do with this? And 'having a differing opinion means you are just looking up things that disagree with me and you don't do science right' is not a point.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Therealsteve dang dude, don't be so triggered about the hair comment, jeez.

Secondly, red herring and strawman.

Don't misrepresent my argument.
Therealsteve · 31-35, M
@basilfawlty89 asking you what it has to do with what was said doesn't make someone triggered. What's it got to do with what was said?

'Not to mention you're trying to find information that justifies your opinion'. Yet stating that your view is that I'm just looking for things that confirm what I think is a straw man...

@Therealsteve Are you aware there's a massive political conflict over DEI as it is being wiped out as a concept governments and corporations use? It's not like federal programs for special needs kids are increasing right now.

By all means be self critical. But it's a weird flex to post something that just sounds like inane anti-DEI ramblings and then be all "Oh I actually love DEI I'm just self-critical".
