Which is correct? "They have to be the right choice for we" or "They have to be the right choice for us"?

I say "They have to be the right choice for us", but some people on here seem to prefer "They have to be the right choice for we" for some reason. Your thoughts?

I don't know if this is relevant, but I believe Geordies say 'wu' for us. When I first heard this, I understood what was meant straight away; it just sounds right in that dialect. As for 'for we', I don't think I've heard anyone saying that, but I suppose it could be a contraction of 'for we the people'. That's the only explanation I can think of.

@SeekingConnection The whole point of this post is to say that it should be "us, the people" in that particular context. Note also the comma after the word "us".
