Is it weird to compliment someone's accent? 😟

There's this Romanian woman I was in a video call with for work with a very lovely accent which I complimented at the end of our call and she didn't look comfortable with that at all. So much, it made for a bit of an awkward silence and I'm now second-guessing myself while cringing badly over it. 😓

I wasn't trying to hit on her at all and I don't feel I came off as such. I wasn't even interested in her in that way! Even if I was, I'm a professional and naturally assume other women are straight anyway, lol. I was just trying to be friendly while expressing that I admired her accent. That's all! 😩

Did I make it awkward or did she?
