I Think Regional Accents Are Interesting

I can only wonder what people with New English accents and Southern accents think of regular American accents like mine; us American accent normies, lol.

I don't really have an opinion but yours is the one I try to emulate for speeches, presentations, conferences, etc. Can't give a talk sounding like an Appalachian hillbilly redneck (unless it's about Appalachian hillbilly rednecks) and have anyone take you seriously.

@SwampFlower Interesting! Is it hard to imitate that accent?

@Carver No. When I was in college I had a lot of Midwestern friends so I heard it a lot. My accent naturally lost a bit of it's edge over time there but came back whenever I was around southern people again. Anytime I had to do public speaking, I made sure to hang out with my friend from Cincinnati so it would be fresh. 😂
