Is it mean to call other languages "gibberish"?

I like to say, "if I don't understand it, it's gibberish". I am just kidding of course, but would that offend you if you heard someone jokingly saying that

It’s very egocentric. Like when Americans would come over here to Canada and call our currency “play money” or “monopoly dollars” (the bills are coloured). I would kindly inform them that’s real money but if they wanted foreign (US) currency they’d have to visit an exchange centre.

Don't say that to someone's face. It's rude.

@Tumbleweed I definitely wouldn't. I just thought of it when I was at the store and people were talking in another language. I thought to my self, "sounds like gibberish to me" and laughed to myself about it. I've also jokingly thought that my talk is gibberish to other people who I tried talking to but couldn't understand me since they didn't speak English.

It's not only mean, it's borderline racist. Every language is perfectly acceptable whether we can speak it or not.

@Sweetguy024 There are people from all over the world in my city and they speak their native languages all the time, so I get to hear a variety of languages being spoken. I see no reason to call the languages "gibberish" and I treat the people as equal to myself.

Only if I was a fluent speaker of gibberish.
Alas, I don't speak Italian, so I don't.
@Elessar can confirm.

How would you be if someone said that to you?
Sweetguy024 · 36-40, M
@Zeusdelight I would probably apologize for my gibberish talk

@Sweetguy024 And when they said "you contiinue to talk gibberish" because they would not understand your apology?
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Yes but the trick is to not say that to their face. 😂
