The English language is a mass of contradictions. None of the rules make sense. I feel bad for anybody that has to learn it as a second language.
MadraLaska31-35, F
@SW-User Is so many words is the same is weird like this, and for me is 3rd language!

@MadraLaska If it's your third, then you must be really smart, motivated or dedicated. Probably all three. You'll be speaking like a native in no time.

@MadraLaska My hat is off to you. I learned Spanish in college, and it's so much simpler than English, I can't imagine what it's like learning English second, let alone third.

Perfectly depicted
OldBrit61-69, M
That's tough going through that so thoroughly throughout time. I've never thought or been taught about it though.
MadraLaska31-35, F
@OldBrit 6 times to read this sentence!
OldBrit61-69, M
@MadraLaska I hope its helping

English is my 2nd language, and I never had an issue with those words, strangely. Guess I just have lots of smart in my brain box
LordShadowfire100+, M
@BarbossasHusband I have a question. If the plural of goose is geese, why isn't the plural of moose meese?
BarbossasHusband36-40, M
@LordShadowfire because of the origin of the word

Its a good job you don't live in Loughborough
Patientlywaiting46-50, F
@Jacko1971 Lufbra? Luv bra? Loogabarooga?馃槀
SnowedIn46-50, M
Yes! Lol
SnowedIn46-50, M
@SnowedIn ...it's actually difficult for efl speakers.
UndercoverBard31-35, M
Sometimes it all feels purposefully confusing
LordShadowfire100+, M
@UndercoverBard I'll tell you exactly why that is. The language we so glibly refer to as English is a bastardized amalgamation of literally dozens of languages. Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Yiddish, Tagalog, Japanese, Mandarin, etc., with a smattering of actual English for flavor.
plankter97951-55, M
what's an equivalent in Polish?
MadraLaska31-35, F
@plankter979 I dont know that there is this kind of thing! I think Polish is simpler language!

You have to love the English language 馃ぃ馃ぃ
LordShadowfire100+, M
That reminds me of something Dr. Seuss wrote in his early days:

The tough coughs as he ploughs the dough.

It doesn't rhyme. None of it rhymes. But it looks like it should.
