My sister and I talking shit to each other in the different language either of us know doesn’t usually work 😅

She knows Italian and I know Spanish. We’ll occasionally yell at one another in those languages just to mess with each other, thinking the other won’t understand. But the thing is, Italian and Spanish are similar enough that we’re both actually able to understand most of what the other is saying. Lmao! Even if it’s just bits and pieces, we get a general idea of what’s being said. I think one of us are going to have to learn another dissimilar language just for the sake of one-upping the other. 😂

Dis u grow up in different households?

@Dan193 Not at all! Our dad is a native Italian speaker, though he never taught us.

My sister learned Italian through an Italian music album she was going to do that never came to pass (she’s a singer), but she still learned enough Italian so she could sing the songs properly.

As for me, my wife is Mexican-American and a native speaker who taught me enough to carry a conversation, lol.

@Ducky mm I see, they are really similar indeed, also portugese a bit

@Dan193 Portuguese, for me personally, is harder to understand. I only ever get bits and pieces from it. Italian’s much easier to understand for me.

@Ducky what about romanian? That one is pretty similar as well
Ducky · 31-35, F
@Dan193 I’m not sure I’ve heard enough Romanian to be able to tell. 🤔

@Ducky it's from the same language family and during the roman empire, romania was part of it too. So heavy influence there.

@Dan193 Yus. 🤩
