What are the languages of the future ?

Of the world's several thousand languages, most are endangered and spoken by small tribal groups. I think many of those languages will die as people learn to speak the dominant language of their nation or English, which is becoming the dominant language of the world. Language is a tool and people tend to learn the language that will help them get ahead in life. An endangered language often isn't much help, though I support efforts to preserve them.
