How is what Trump's doing to Venezuela differ from what Obama and Hillary did in Libya?

The color of the ties is different.

No I didn't miss it.

With the 60 to 70 refineries in the Gulf waters they are refining oil from Venezuela even as I write. Much of the Gulf Coast in Texas are refineries, hard to find fishing spots like we used to.

I wonder why America still imports 70 to 80% of its oil? ...............How much oil does America have in reserve, supposedly ranking one beating Saudi Arabia as of 2023?.............. More oil under American control. And I'm quite sure the oil refineries in the Gulf can find a way to work in MORE oil from Venezuela which they already process. And maybe America can stockpile more oil.

Reports I read say that the US would benefit from having Venezuelan oil - they name increased efficiency for US oil refineries in the Gulf / downward pressure on gasoline prices / business opportunities for American oil companies / economics / trade influence / energy security / aide the people of Venezuela.

If oil companies are as greedy concerning money as they appear to be, they will spend the money, and with the Trump administration behind them they just might. After all Trump gives tax cuts to the rich / companies. Trump will bail you out if his plan fails, like he did the farmers, and may do again.

I could be wrong, I could be right and as long as I've been around oil has always equaled money.

@Charity We agree that oil equates money. Its just not that simple.. But the reason America imports so much oil is that you cant run a vehicle of the stuff America produces. Like the Venezuela oil, its too thick and dirty. It has to have lighter, "sweeter" oil added. The Canadian oil was popular for that, as is the middle east oil. I havent looked into the US strategic reserve. I know its been tapped into at times. But with oil as cheap as it is right now, it seems logical to keep it topped up. Not that this is guaranteed under the current administration.
As for your comment about more oil meaning lower prices.. That doesnt have a great record in the US. Often more supply means cheaper supply to the oil companies and more profit for them..😷
@Charity the money would help bribe Venezuelan people to be more conservative.
