Moroccan Chbakiya
Moroccan Chbakiya (also spelled Chebakia or Shebakia) is a popular Moroccan pastry that is often served during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. It is a deep-fried cookie made from a dough that is flavored with sesame seeds, anise, cinnamon, and orange blossom water, and then coated with a honey syrup that is infused with the same flavors.
Chbakiya is traditionally served as part of the iftar meal, which breaks the daily fast during Ramadan. It is also a popular snack throughout the year and can be found in many Moroccan pastry shops and markets.
