@room101: I provided evidence to support my claims. It's okay to disagree, but what are you building your opinion on? If you don't have convincing reasons, then you just disagree to disagree, which doesn't help you at all.
Fearing God gives you a sense of accountability, which is one of the most important tools of development in human psychology. When you realize that even if nobody is watching.. still there's God watching you and you will be taken into account for your deeds. People who fear God have higher sense of morality than people who don't. It's actually tested and proved to be true.
I find it absurd that some people would claim that Islam spread through invasion and conquest. Someone who has such claims has no knowledge of history. Back in the 7th century, states where divided according to religion, and not nationalities. For instance, the Romans were Christians, so no other religion was allowed to be preached within their empire. When Muslims decided to spread the message of Islam, they couldn't preach in a state unless the rulers were Muslims, so they would go and give the rulers of a state a choice to either accept Islam or go into war with the Muslims. However, this warning is only for the rulers, not the people. Because when Muslims won wars, they did not force people to accept Islam, they would invite them and give them the choice to either accept or reject. If Islam was spread by force, you wouldn't find Christians and Jews living under the Islamic empire for centuries. Plus, Indonesia has the majority number of Muslims in the world, which war did Muslims had against this country?
Islam is the only religion in the world that combines spirituality with the intellect. It's the only religion that has complete world's view. There's only one God, so there's only one truth, and I believe that this truth is Islam, otherwise, I wouldn't be a Muslim.
