Too sleepy to concentrate! Has this ever happened to you?

I'm listening to the news and only have the vaguest idea of what they are talking about. Everyone is talking too fast!

I know what you mean. We have some very good news bulletins on BBC Radio 4 and 3 read at a sensible pace, but often other stations pack so much into 2 minutes that I can't tell when the story has changed, which gabbled interviewee is who and I just 'tune out'. Mind you, when I do understand what they're saying I have no addition of joy to my life.

Alas, the standard of English even on BBC bulletins is sometimes so lax, I am distracted by it.

@FreddieUK Normally, I can at least follow along. Today, with only 6 hours sleep, it was as though I was a teenager again and my mother was going on and on in the background. I could hear, but the comprehension was cut off.
