"Predators" on Paramount, because of COURSE it's Paramount, tries to indict Chris Hansen for publicly embarrassing PREDATORS on "To Catch a Predator".

It does not at ALL achieve its aim, first off.

Secondly, it shows soft-voiced, self-proclaimed "sensitive/empathetic" apologist men, cosplaying as intellectuals, and saying that TCAP didn't show the HUMANITY of said PREDATORS.

This "documentary" was careful not to show the un(falsely)repentant characters, or their transcripts; it was CLEARLY a show with an agenda, and that agenda didn't even favor the true victims!!

Chris Hansen should answer for not getting CONVICTIONS, bc those were messed up by the show. That is really all he should feel bad for! The suicide of a district attorney who wanted to hot carl an underage boy should NOT EVEN feel bad to Hansen.

Shitty games yield shitty prizes, man.

The fact that this "documentary" exists is EXTREMELY unnerving to me, esp with the addition of Bari Weiss, essentially, to the Paramount Staff. Paramount is now beholden to Trump, and we cannot become immune to their pedophilic tricks.

The suicide of one high profile PREDATOR is a false equivalency to the lives of terror and suicidal ideation of their VICTIMS. This is a self-important, sophomoric attempt at art school filmmaking, complete with long, poorly edited, boring SILENCES. The only real proponent of us "seeing the humanity" of these PREDATORS has 2 framed, UNHIDDEN children on his desk.

At the end, the interviewer tells CH he is "free to go" in a condescending tone, invoking the phrase from TCAP all those years ago. They then follow CH down the elevator and to his ride waiting outside, then pan the camera to a now saddened, judgemental, silent, bespectacled documentarian gentleman who didn't evennn reaaally set forth a basic premise to the showww, didn't confront CH about said premise in any reallll way, and now wants to feel as if he proved a point (???).

Said gentleman was a VICTIM of a child PREDATOR, and is now upset with CH for not getting to the bottom of why the PREDATORS do what they do.

I am so confused.

It felt like a) he might not really be a victim at all, and may just be faking it to get the heat off of predation, b) be serving the goal of Trump's regime lowering the age of consent and child marriage, c) when a show has one token marginalized person who is ONLY THERE to signify, "Hey i'm cool with this, so you should be too; nothing to see here folks!"

Or as South Park's Trump says, "Relaxxx guyyy." No. Do NOT relax, guy.

In fairness, this "show" - and the whole "industry" behind it does very little to help with the predator problem.

I mean, who covers all the innocent men who are wrongly accused... because, this does happen???

Who sees to it that all the footage is scrubbed off the Internet - footage, that, in some cases, is shared before the case has gone to trial.

Overwhelming the departments responsible for catching predators does very little, if anything, to actually protect children - and could actually mean that more children are placed in danger than are helped because the resources that would have protected them are now spent wading through all this evidence.

Then, there's the family and friends of the wrongly accused, too. In some communities, they are harassed just as much as an actual predator - to the point where they have to move away to live in peace again.

If people insist on doing "pedophile hunting" - then they should have to get accreditation to do so... and that should cover how to be mindful of any potential trial as well as the requirement to moderate the comments section of their videos and deal with unfounded accusations of other crimes and threats made towards the accused and their friends and family.

@HootyTheNightOwl yes..the ones that are not TCAP, especially. And to have media essentially running the police force is a problem as well. You would have to see the doc to see how aimless and all over the place it is. The upshot is that it ends up siding with the predator, and that that feels like its central AIM.

@HootyTheNightOwl Plus, what do you meannn by falsely accused lol..the whole premise of the show is that the predators show up to rape underrage children. If you are talking about non-TCAP shows, that is a whole other thing.
@foldedunfolding There's groups out there who are operating slightly differently to TCAP. They seem to be having some virtual chat with the accused, then they skip the whole part of filming the pedophile travelling to meet a child to showing up at their houses to confront them.

As far as TCAP itself goes, it's only a matter of time before they, themselves, are baited into a trap.

You're going to tell me that 100% of these accusations are proven and airtight before the police are even called??? Even the police aren't that good - and cases have been thrown out on the basis of insufficient evidence or asking leading questions.

As far as the "falsely accused" go... yes, there are men who are falsely accused of being a pedophile just because that is the fastest, most convenient way to ruin his life. A couple of screenshots don't go far enough to establish guilt - not when scammers can alter your online banking amounts to turn you into a millionaire if they want to.

Without actually getting the pedophile to travel to meet up with a sting, you don't really have anything to prove that he is guilty of what he has allegedly done... and they're all still innocent until proven guilty in court, regardless of whatever crime they have committed. Even murderers have that right.

I'm of the viewpoint that this is dangerous for all involved. I mean, if you're of the belief that they are raping children, then how do you know that raping children is the only crime they're committing??? No one can out fight a bullet or crossbow bolt.
