is the 'dead internet theory' true

the theory that around 2016 many people left the internet and were replaced by 'bots' and that now everything is fake and most people you interact with now are bots and fake profiles?

So most of the theory is probably bogus but one part has resonated with me. The rise of bots (and now more sophisticated AI) has diluted the interactions and trust in said interactions online.
