Lots of speculation about what Elon Musk means by "free speech", and his ability as a Personnnel Director, but I have just learnt Twitter's other primary owner is the Royal Family of that bastion of democracy and civilised protection of opposing political and religious views.....

@whowasthatmaskedman I think when the internet came to be, and more specifically social media, there was almost an "innocence" about it. I don't think the powers that be really acknowledged the potential for weaponization. Their focus was on monetization. And we've learned they go hand in hand.

@whowasthatmaskedman That was not what I said, but I agree about the money. To be fair to the Internet all that does is make it far easier to create and deepen divisions, but that's because the individual [anti]social-media companies and ISPs do not do enough to moderate the contents.
