@NerdyPotato He was Johnny Carson's sidekick on the Tonight Show. Publisher's Clearing House was like a side gig for him. They sold magazines, lots of magazines, but you could enter the sweepstakes for free. They just counted on people not realizing that.

Not only do I remember that, I remember there were parody commercials from other companies. I forget the product now, but this guy was going around to different houses asking if people wanted free money, and this little old lady said she would only answer the door if it was Ed McMahon.
