Make your children learn something that they do twice a week. It can be a type of sport, piano lessons, ballet, doesn't matter. It's fine if they want to change it at some point, but don't let them change it over and over again. Make them stick with something early on.
This is so important because it teaches kids from they are small to not become quitters, and that is one of the most important skills to have as a young adult. It is people who quit when things get hard, who don't find happiness in life, and it's a very difficult pattern to break in adulthood.
It also has positive side effects of giving them something to be proud of, boosting their self esteem from a young age. It enhances their feeling of identity, and opens the doors to a community that they will always be part of.
It is such a small thing which does SO much good.
