Hm apparently soda streamed water is way worse for your teeth than I thought
It has a ph level of about 4.7 to 5.1. Regular tap water can be as low as 6.5. As I'm sure everyone know, 7 is ideal, and a ph of 5 is ten times more acidic than a ph of 6. So if your water has the ph of 4.9, soda streamed water is about 40 times more acidic than tap water... yeh 👀
But apparently it's not only the acidity of a chemical that's important, but also it's composition. For example a ph of 4.9 of a water that has diluted carbonic acid in it decays teeth slower than phosphoric acid of the same ph (partly of what you'll find in cola).
From what I could gather, unflavoured fizzy water decays teeth faster than normal water (naturally, I would expect about 40 times faster), but it decays teeth 100s of times slower than a typical soda with a lower ph and sugar added.
It does make you think about all the times you drink fizzy water after brushing your teeth tho
