Unless you naturally fit in with a particular clique, there’s no reason for you to seek to be in it. Whatever they would like you to do/be like would seem awkward to you and eventually you’d find yourself not a part of it.
If you’re meant to be in a popular clique, it will pretty much find you and invite you in....otherwise, it’s probably not worth bothering.
