'Lefties'?

My dream of the future for my country is that the kids born to parents battling to make a living can access health care, good education and ultimately opportunities for jobs. When I was young tertiary education became free (left wing non-socialist party) and it changed society by creating social mobility so that the dream of starting poor and doing well through hard work became real. And the country prospered economically because of it. That's a matter of history.
To stop the welfare handouts for the wealthy and the onset of homelessness due to tax offsets for wealthy investors to buy up multiple properties when young couples can't even pay rent now.
To fix the tax system so that the super wealthy contributed to the society they profit from (I base this on the high number of corporations identified and % of highly wealthy who paid no tax last year). For transparency in the political system so that political donations weren't setting policy that benefited the few and continued to increase ridiculous levels of property ownership and wealth for the 1% and sweetheart government deals under the table worth up to a thousand times more than their petty donation to their political party. Yes, all this is statistically verified.
Better environmental management so that my grandchildren can explore the beauty of my country isn't completely bulldozed, concreted, destroyed because a company can make a buck from it.
I'll add: to return to respectful debate and disagreement instead of tribal rage and hatred fueled by media and social media.
Stuff like that.

@Abstraction This all sounds perfectly reasonable to me and I would have to agree with you. I also really like the part of ' concreted environment to make a buck. So true !

@Abstraction This sounds classical liberal but I agree with you on your other comment left/right labels do* not mean much anymore. At times they sound like a cover and a bit of an excuse.

Thanks for best comment. It sounds like classic liberal but I take each issue on its merits. I agree with many views on the 'right' for instance. I'm sure a good percentage of people on both sides are like this rather than classic left or right. I find when I listen to people once we get past the stereotype projection we often agree on a lot.
