Waxing philosophical about obstacles. :D :D :D
I got over to the food pantry early this morning to get food for my neighbors and for my friend, Tom, and the parking lot was all torn up. Huge trucks blocked every entrance. BOULDERS were set on the lawn near the trucks, (as they always are), and I thought perhaps the food pantry had been cancelled. But a paving worker was there to guide me in, past the huge truck wheel turned at an angle, and the boulders. it was TIGHT!!!!
I managed to make it into the area in front of the food loading door. AND one of the food pantry guys, (the one who is always SO kind), came out and told me there would be no tables full of fresh fruits and veggies today, but that he could load up my car with boxes and bags, and he did!
I got home, and my usual off loading parking spot near the front door was occupied by a carpet cleaning company, and thick corrugated hoses were laid down across the front entrance. We couldn't roll the food straight through.
My friend and volunteer, Cathy showed up right away, and started loading food onto a flatbed cart, and we managed to get over and under the hoses, got all the food inside, and Bob showed up and helped us to unpack everything.
I am sitting here in my apartment, thinking about how unsettling all of this mornings little shocks and changes had been...but how extremely satisfied I feel that I managed to overcome them! They certainly weren't major obstacles...but the way I feel made me realize that in life, some obstacles are necessary...to test us even in small ways, and make us feel as though we have WON!!!!
