Imagine you're a parent of 2 kids. One of them falls of their bike and breaks an arm. You take the kid to the doctor because at thi moment, although you love your kids equally, the one with the injury needs a little more attention. Doesn't mean you stop loving the othe kid, just you put some extra attention to the one that needs it at the moment.
If you're a Christian, think of the parable of the lost sheep. The shepherd leaves the 99 to find the lost one. It doesn't mean he stops caring for the 99, they are important, but they aren't in trouble. He goes and finds the lost one and returns it to the flock.
