My dad! He’s my hero always has been!

I would have to say two people. One is my dad because he was the most honest person I've ever known and he taught me good morals.

However, the most important influence on my life was Jesus, as he changed my life completely for the better, when I was so lost and not knowing how to navigate my life. His Holy Spirit transformed my life completely, when nothing else could. That was in 1973 and I'll never forget it. I've never been sorry I accepted him as my Savior.

My son. The moment he was born I had a new and important purpose that would require sacrifice and dedication. Plus he's smart and fun and kooky.

My adopted mother. She has always been supportive of what I want to do. She's a great influence is there for me whenever needed. Even if I just need someone to talk to, whether something serious or just to shoot the sh@t.
taneegoan · 31-35, F
me and myself as I feel no one can love me as mmyself
Cassieee · 31-35, F
My husband. I went from not really caring and living day by day, to actually wanting to be better and take care of myself so that I'll get to spend the rest of my life with him.
My parents, for reasons too numerous to list. After them, my wife & children.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
I wouldn’t be with a woman, long term, if I didn’t feel I could learn from her. So, for me, it’s not one person. I’ve been able to learn and grow from 3-4 great relationships.

My Father...growing up he taught me a tremendous amount. How to do things, how things work. How people are. What are we and how we should view ourselves...no college but a brilliant student of life. My Mom taught me humor and kindness. She also reinforced many of my Father's values...
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M

The voices in my head. They taught me magic, then taught me to reason. Now I know they were messing with me and magic is bullshit. Leaves me isolated because, as one of my community college profs argued, everybody believes in at least a little magic. Probably for the same reasons as the pigeons in Skinner boxes developed their little rituals. Aristotle identified humanity as rational animals, and I think he was right, but so was Nietzsche in arguing that we're still basically beasts. We're evolutionarily one side of a conceptual divide, and so much of what we do is still unreasoning, brutish crap.
DavidBianchet2 · 56-60, M
@DavidBianchet2 oh, I forgot the 'why' part. It's myself, because nobody could show me an adequate truth. I had to find it myself.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
