A genuinely impressive human being

I was reading a story at the weekend about a young guy working on a supermarket checkout who was serving an old woman who, when it came to paying, didn’t appear to be able to. Her card was declined twice and without thinking and without making sure everyone knew about it, the young guy used his phone to pay for the old lady’s shopping. It was only the woman in the queue behind the old woman that spotted what he did.

It’s such a heart warming thought that there’s people out there who are like that.

Beautiful. Those stories are such a blessing for the spirit.

Experienced something quite similar myself.
It was many years ago, and I found myself short of money at a theater performance in Chicago. The young man at the concessions kiosk quietly took up the item I'd been considering, and approached me. Saying : "We had a little extra left over" passing it to me.
I thanked him warmly, stunned.
Though the act pales in significance to the elderly woman at the grocery checkout, I believe these two young men shared the same heart and spirit of humanity.

That was 26 years ago. But the gesture continues to bring the same tears to my eyes, and warmth to my heart, as on that very day.
They say people won't remember you for what you did; but how you made them feel. And I see that young man's face often.
