I have an idea to save a house from burning down during bushfires.

Install a retractable house cover.
Made of fireproof material, it would be hidden away underground and a and flicking a switch would see it rise from the ground, in two parts, and cover the whole house.
Vision a retractable roof as those on observatories. This one would begin underground and enwrap the house.

It wouldnt work.. The council would not allow it because it may endanger the pygmy striped earthworm or some such and demand a $20,000 per house survey and investigation before referring it to a sub committee for revue.😷
be easer to clear the brush Frome the property. or brick house with tin roof.

@jackrabbit10 Not fire proof. In a massive firestorm If any embers get into the roof space the house is toast.

It would prevent ember attack for sure, but I wonder about heat build up under the blanket?
