I just can't understand why people are so into watching sports. I believe the history books of the future will look at humans enjoyment of sports

as a surefire sign of how primitive they were. They are just so mind numbingly boring, a complete waste of time and a distraction. And as George Orwell stated, a tool of control, "Football, beer, and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult."

I mean, just think about golf as an example: people will spend thousands of dollars on clubs and thousands of hours practicing merely to be able to hit a ball into a hole in the dirt. Wow. And then people will actually spend money to watch that. It's just insanity to me.

It's not sports itself that is the problem.

We have made sports barbaric by PROFESSIONALIZING sports.

Professional sports have degraded society. Along with the push to make celebrities important.

Remove the profession, you remove the money.

Sports on the school level is totally necessary. Just not on the professional level.

NFL and NBA have destroyed the sports as well, imho. Turned them into concert-like events, with the strobe lights, smoke bombs, background music, video game uniforms, trash talking. And now Manfred is trying to do the same with baseball.

@dancingtongue it's on all professional leagues. It's so money driven that even the Arabs want on the action in golf. Auto Racing the same thing.

At least the Olympics at one time pretended to be about being for amateurs only, then allowed themselves to get wrapped up in the tribal competition between nations and opened the flood gates for full professionalism and overblown spectaculars. Baseball was sort of a hold out, particular in the minor leagues where it was more about a family outing experience and community fun. Then Manfred and his Future Vision took over, the owners got penis envy over the money flowing into the other sports, they began gussying up the sport with all the assorted video game crap, tried to kill off the minor leagues all together.
