is going to the moon a good idea?

it will cost billions of tax dollars, might not even work, and surely the moon is something best left alone

It is the first step towards colonising other planets.As a species our long term survival is a low probability while being on one planet only.Becoming a multi planet species our long term survival is a high probability.As a bonus the moon has helium three,vital to nuclear fusion.

@itsoeasy there is actually very little helium three on earth and an abundance on the moon.Obtaining helium three from the moon is often cited as a reason to go back.
