Going paperless

I have some money in a retirement fund which has been sending a ridiculous number of notifications in the mail.

So I finally went online and switched to electronic notifications.

Today I received a letter in the mail, confirming that I had gone paperless. 🤦🏼‍♂

Are most of the paper notifications, really advertisements for further "services" to divert more of your fund into theirs?

My motoring association is a bit like that. It publishes a big, thick glossy magazine a few times a year, full of almost nothing interesting or relevant to me; mainly advertising holidays and even reviewing cars! In between it sends unsolicited e-post ads for yet more holidays and tourist attractions; but I won't block it because it also sends real, formal communications that way.

Actually the confirmation letter probably does have a genuine purpose. That of a dual confirmation, and on paper, potentially longer-lasting and more secure than by digital message.

@ArishMell Most companies, like your motoring association, allow you to opt out of marketing, but will still send you important info about your account and the services unique to you.

@ArishMell No, not at all. It is more along the lines of every change that has been made to the investments in a mutual fund. "we dropped this and added this", that sort of thing. This is an old-fashioned, stodgy securities company. They do not resort to flashy advertising the way credit card companies do, or even worse, store credit card services!

oh i thought you were going paperless here.......good to that isn't the case.

I do not want to be the only person the print out all fhe posts I want to reply to, type them up in my typewriter and later retype those answers into the forum.

i am not the only one right? right?

I remember doing the same thing. Must be a common problem...

How much cashback to get for going paperless, but hold on...Isn't odd that cash is made out of paper and they want to give you cash back with paper.
