I Hear The Mail Truck, It’s About to Come Around the Corner…

@Virgo79 I had a pulled muscle one day and stayed home from work. Lived in an apartment complex and heard the garbage dumpster truck coming around the corner. That cat jumped up and ran to the dining room window and got up to watch the trash dumpster get dumped. I think it was the highlight of her day, if not the week.

@cherokeepatti i made jerky and had a bag on the desk for a few days, i was at the desk at noon and my dog came over and stared at me, i thought what!
I got up and he ran in and looked at the dehydrator and back at me😂
He thought i had more 😂

@Virgo79 it’s something how they will use body language to communicate. I had a cat that disappeared a couple days when I lived in a house. I heard him on Thanksgiving afternoon meowing at the back door. Opened it up and he couldn’t get up on the steps, had to go pick him up. He was dragging himself by his front claws to move. I thought he might have gotten hit by a car but he didn’t seem to be in any kind of pain. I took him to the vet and she gave him a cortisone shot and said to bring him back later, it would take time to work. He could get to the litter box but couldn’t get up on the sofa. He would look at me and look at the sofa till I’d go pick him up and put him on the sofa. Whatever he wanted he would look at so I’d get it or do for him.

@cherokeepatti i wonder what happened to the cat, poor guy.☹️
Having conversations at times i notice when something is mentioned he will look that way.
He knows whats being said 🤨 little booger

@Virgo79 the vet said it could have been a blood clot. She asked me if anyone had sprayed yard chemicals (it was in late November) or if he could have gotten into anything. I didn’t know. I thought maybe he climbed a tree and fell or something. He healed up with a few weeks and his back wasn’t broken.

@Virgo79 I have to be careful about teasing the parakeets about anything. They are more sensitive than we realize. I teased one of my parakeets about the ice cream I was eating, showed him the bowl and asked if he wanted some. Told him he didn’t get any. A couple weeks later he says “Want some ice cream? We don’t get any” said the last part in a sad child’s tone of voice. I felt really bad about that.

@Virgo79 he made me feel so guilty when he talked like that. I never did it again to any of the birds

@Virgo79 He was a smart parakeet, would pipe up and say things that were very relevant to let me know that he understood. Usually a wise-cracker but that time when he talked that way it bothered me.

@cherokeepatti i guess he got even.
Now im wondering did he know what he was doing, or just talking?
Wish there was a way to really know what they are thinking.

@Virgo79 he was so smart that one time I was in the bathroom and someone in the living room having a phone conversation. The next morning that bird said 4 complete sentences from that phone conversation that he had overheard and I knew exactly what was being discussed, it wasn’t a secret or anything. But how that bird memorized those 4 sentences well enough to repeat them I don’t know. He only said it one time that I know of.
