Does anyone know of private member only hotels?

A lot of bars are going this way and are not longer considered public spaces and instead of private clubs. With so many bad hotel experiences the last year I'd love to find a better alternative that is removed from the public world. No matter the chain I've had bad experiences from the top brands to basic cheap rooms. I had a dirty wash cloth left in the top of the shower curtain at a city center hilton, and I've had dirty sheets at a four seasons, so i got to where I stay at cheaper places dealing with the same stuff. While it's still bad it's not as unacceptable at a comfort inn vs a four seasons. But I'd really like to find a private members only lounge to use as hotels if they exist at least try to remove to public aspect of the problem.

Only once had a bad experience at a hotel. The room reeked of cigarette smoke, Immediately went back to the front desk and they instantly gave us another room.

HVAC that doesn't work. I've learned to carry a small heater and plug it in.

Any college or university club. There are several within a few blocks of Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan.

There’s the Brown Club, the Cornell Club, the Harvard Club, the University of Pennsylvania Club, the Princeton Club, and the Yale Club all in the same area.
