Is remaking the Waldorf-Astoria worthwhile?

For the last few years, the iconic Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York city has been closed while the new owners completely renovate and restore the property. Its set to reopen at the end of this year.Is this endeavor worthwhile or is it a futile attempt to restore something past its prime to its formet glory.

The common everyday person is probably not going to use the Waldorf. It was and will be a hotel whose clientele are very well to do and/ or celebrities.
It’s owners invested and their investments will no doubt return from those who come.

@soar2newhighs But thats my question. Can it return to prominence as the top hotel in New York?Alot of time has passed since it held that place, and other hotels have ascended into that postion.
@DavidT8899 First, it’s now reportedly owned by the Chinese Government.
Anyway , given the $$$ and prestige and rehabilitation put into the Waldorf, as I said, the very wealthy can afford it.
My feeling is that it’s all about elitism and geopolitical aspirations. And again there are those who can and will use it.
