The only thing about owning a house is that one still has to deal with crummy neighbors.
The guy who thinks the whole neighborhood wants to hear his dodge charger, the neighbors who let their dogs bark all hours of the night, The neighbor who keeps overdosing so the first responders are always blocking the road, etc.
Plus it is a lot easier to just pick up and move if you do not like an apartment.
People talk about having equity in a house, which is true, but unless someone is REAL well-off, they are going to be making mortgage payments probably the rest of their lives.
And let's not forget how insanely expensive even modest houses are.
