Nothing. And the mortgage payment is less than the rental for a studio apartment around here; add in the property taxes and it is still less than a decent apartment. A product of buying my first house on a no down payment/low--at the time- 7 1/4% Cal-Vet loan when we didn't know how we were going to make the mortgage payments and still eat, the skyrocketing housing market manipulated by developers and financial institutions, and the cockamamy Prop. 13 property tax laws in California that still base my property tax on that original purchase's value in 1973 at a grossly deflated 2% per year max increase in valuation.
