Did a rat do this?? !!

A few weeks ago I saw a huge rat ion my kitchen counter. My neighbor patched up the hole behind my washing machine that I saw it run behind.
I thought the problem was solved but now I am wondering.
I opened my dresser drawer in my bedroom a few minutes ago and found this. It was a tube of glucose tablets. The ONLY place I keep them is in my purse or on my nightstand. It was NOT there yesterday! It’s empty and chewed up! Could this be a rat?
I have heard noises awhile back in my bathroom that’s in my bedroom, and one time months ago I was almost asleep and one of my dresser drawers slid open by itself! I assumed it was a poltergeist and went back to sleep.
Now I’m thinking that rat is stuck in my house somehow since my neighbor patched the holes in my kitchen wall.
My roommate has a cat and she keeps trying to go in my bedroom and I just shoo her out.
That’s it- my next day off I’m going to the animal shelter and getting a cat to keep in my bedroom!

If there's a male and female in there you've got problems.
Female rats have litters of about 6 at a time every few weeks so if there's evidence they're already there you can set all the traps you want it won't solve the issue.
And if you have drywall or skirting boards even holes for dryer hoses they have complete access to your home

@Picklebobble2 I just got the dryer hose covered and holes that were behind my washing machine patched. Not sure where else they could be getting it. Haven’t heard or seen any besides the huge one on my kitchen counter a few weeks ago. I bought some of those throw packets of rat poison and put them in my dresser drawers. They were so expensive and only a few in there so hopefully it will work. I also put one outside my bedroom window in my flower bed.
